New sexual harassment laws have come into effect, including anew positive obligation for employers to take reasonable and proportionate measures to eliminate sexual harassment and harassment from the workplace. Legislation taking effect in December of 2023 will give industrial and human rights Commission powers to investigate, give notice and take enforcement action against persons conducting business that do not eliminate these forms of harassment.

Sexual harassment in the workplace is a serious issue that affects individuals and organizations alike. This comprehensive course on workplace sexual harassment awareness and prevention is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to understand, prevent, and respond effectively to sexual harassment behaviour in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this short course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and assess sexual harassment behaviour
  • Recognise how harassment behaviour disproportionately affects some people
  • Recognise indicators, high-risk situations and the effects of culture on sexual harassment behaviour
  • Know their legislative obligations and risks in relation to sexual harassment
  • Understand the risks, causes and costs of conflict and behavioural triggers
  • Respond to sexual harassment behaviour as an active bystander
  • Comply with your workplace practice on sexual harassment
  • Respond safely to disclosures of sexual harassment
  • Properly document complaints and reports
  • Assess complaints according to your workplace criteria and select the appropriate response

  • Must be 18 or more years old
  • Must have obtained an academic level of Year 12 or above or equivalent
  • Must meet course prerequisites and the requirements of our enrolment process
